Patiently restored, open to the garden and the Provençal sky.

The story

A horticulturists’ house, brought back to the light

At the start of the last century, Hyères shipped its palm trees and cut flowers all over Europe. A family of horticulturists built the villa in 1925, among their greenhouses, a stone’s throw from the salt marshes.

When we found it in 2017, the shutters no longer closed and the garden had gone wild. Two years of work later, the walls have their lime wash back, the floor tiles their shine, and every room opens onto the garden or the sea.

  • Lime plaster and natural paints
  • Original terracotta and cement tiles, restored one by one
  • Solar hot water and rainwater harvesting

A garden that doesn’t fear the summer

Claire worked as a landscape architect for fifteen years before settling here. She designed a dry garden of agaves, aloes, olive trees, oleanders, rockroses and curry plants, which make do with rainwater and smell wonderful at the end of the day.

Take the time to explore it: every corner hides a bench, a hammock or a table for reading in the shade. In spring, Claire gives a tour for the curious, with seeds and cuttings to take home.

Welcome to our home

We left Lyon in 2017, wanting an open house by the sea. Claire looks after the garden and the breakfasts, Antoine after the bikes, the boats and the good addresses.

We host only a few guests so that we can host them well: recommending a cove, booking a table at the harbour or telling you the best time to see the flamingos. And if you would rather be left in peace, we know how to keep out of the way too.
